Easy hiking and long, dramatic rappels!

This private guided canyoneering tour takes us across ancient sand dunes and down into a lush canyon with flowing water via two spectacular rappels, each around 100 feet in length. The first rappel deposits us into the route’s namesake – the Medieval Chamber – a deep, dark hallway that cannot be accessed without the use of ropes. From there, we continue to our second rappel, next to one of Moab’s largest natural bridges – Morning Glory Bridge. With expert guidance, this excellent Moab canyoneering tour is one of the best beginner and family friendly trips around.

You will never forget the Medieval Chamber tour. It looks terrifying and insane, but I promise, you won’t regret doing it. When signing up for the tour ask for Herb. Safety is his number one priority, and you always feel confident with him. He’s informative, entertaining, engaging, and a real pro. He’s also the coolest guy that my teenage son and I met in Moab.

I never heard of canyoneering until I went to Moab. You must try it. And if you do, you must go to Desert Highlights, because tours and tour companies are not the same.

Our family of four had a great day with Desert Highlights, specifically with our guide Jake. We were a group of 4, two 53 year old parents, and our 14 and 20 year old sons. We did the Medieval Chamber tour, which owner Melissa helped us select. It included two 100 feet rappels and several miles of hiking in beautiful terrain. We had never done anything like this before but we were all up for a new adventure. We met at Desert Highlights office in Moab and Jake was ready for us to go when we arrived. We used their backpacks and they had great snacks for us to grab and go. We had a short 15 minute drive in a comfortable van and arrived at the drop-off point. We were all nervous about the rappeling but Jake made us very comfortable. Taking the time to show us how he secured the ropes and answering any questions we had. He was happy to take pictures and he was good conversation and company. We all LOVED the tour, it was the highlight of our vacation. Thank you Jake and Desert Highlights for the great day!

My husband and I went on a beginner half day canyoneering trip with Desert Highlights in February. They had been recommended to us by a friend of ours who has been on several of their trips. We were nervous leading up to that day about how the canyoneering would work and if we would be able to do it given the heights. Herb was so reassuring, friendly, and professional that we didn’t even hesitate when the time came to do the first rappel. It was a spectacular experience, easy to do, and really fun! We would do this again in a heartbeat and can’t wait to try another one of their trips on our next visit to Moab!

First canyoneering experience, went with with kids aged 8 to 12. We did the 100 ft rappel down Medieval Chamber and Morning Glory Arch. Jake and Kai were great guides, easy going, kind and approachable. Everything was well explained, well organized and efficient. The whole family had a great time.

Undoubtedly the best canyoneering experience in Moab. I like the fact that it’s an off-street Outfit with a personal touch – think family, not company. Jake must be the best guide in Utah but everyone I met there was great. We did Medieval Chamber/morning glory with kids aged 10/13/15y and they couldn’t get enough. Lots of background information, so not just Rappel and gone. Will choose again on my next visit.

We just finished the Medieval Chamber tour with the most amazing guide, Kai. She was patient, knowledgeable, and made us all feel very safe during the repels.

We came to celebrate my sister’s birthday. Five of us were shuttled up to a 1-mile hike where we repelled down two 100-foot cliffs and ended in an incredible 2.5 mile hike through red rocks and a small river bed. Luckily we wore our Keen water shoes (closed-toe shoes were required) so we could wade in the water.

We’re already planning our next adventure with Desert Highlights where there is a 200+ foot repel!

    Thanks Kai!!

First time to ever do rappelling for a group of older guys on company retreat. Everything about this was fun and an adrenaline rush. It was much easier than I expected.

We did the Medieval Chamber tour. Short hike to 2 massive rappel. Thanks to Melissa for getting everything set up and being flexible on starting earlier than normal. Kai was our guide, and she was very professional and informative. This is a small family owned outfitter that loves what they do, and it shows.
